K9 Division
The Cayce Police Department’s K-9 Unit is a specialized unit that supports the Traffic Safety Unit, the Patrol Division, and the Criminal Investigations Division by performing tracking operations, narcotics detection, searches, and criminal apprehension. The K-9 Unit consists of patrol officers with their canine partners; each team participates in countless hours each year training their unique skills with many departments and agencies around the State to maintain proficiency and effectiveness. Not only does the K-9 Unit support Cayce Police Department’s operations, but they also lend assistance to many law enforcement partners in the Midlands area.
Corporal Justin Hartley & Nero

-Breed: Belgian Malinois/ German Shepherd Mix
K-9 Cpl. Hartley and K-9 Nero became partners in January 2024. Nero is a multi-purpose canine, capable of narcotics detection, tracking and locating articles. Cpl. Hartley and Nero graduated handler school in February 2024. Nero loves playing tug with his handler and loves belly scratches. When he is off duty, he loves giving his family hugs. Nero loves to work and looks forward to every shift with excitement.
Master Sergeant Mandy Fournier & Hudson

Sgt Fournier and K-9 Hudson became partners in August 2022, the first Therapy K-9 for the midlands and the first ever for our department. Some of K-9 Hudson’s duties are to assist people who have experienced traumatic events, crisis intervention and to help with the overall morale of the schools, department and our community. Sgt Fournier and K-9 Hudson graduated in December of 2022 from Paws and Stripes College at Brevard County Sheriff Office as a Therapy K-9. K-9 Hudson loves to do his job and meet new people every day. K-9 Hudson really loves all the belly rubs that he gets for doing his job. Sgt Fournier and K-9 Hudson are looking forward to helping the community, schools and citizens for years to come.
Officer Heustess & Koa

Ofc Heustess and K-9 Koa became partners in April 2024. K-9 Koa is a full-service Patrol canine (apprehension, narcotics, and tracking). Dutch Sheppards,”Dutchie” for short, are known for being lively, athletic, alert, and intelligent. K-9 Koa and his handler graduated canine training in May. K-9 Koa loves his ears being scratched and playing with his handler. K-9 Koa loves to work and is excited to have joined the Cayce K-9 team and looks forward to keeping his community safe for years to come.
Officer Chawporn & Eso

-Breed: German Sheperd / Belgian Malinois Mix
Ofc Chawporn and K-9 Eso partnered up in March 2024. K-9 Eso is the department’s first Explosives Detection Canine, and he’s also certified in Tracking. The duo graduated from Astro Working Dogs in Simpsonville, SC, in May 2024. Known for his unique talent of leaving fur everywhere, K-9 Eso is an enthusiastic partner who loves head scratches and giving big hugs. Always eager to start his day, K-9 Eso serves and protects the City of Cayce and its citizens with unwavering dedication.
Senior SRO Green & Fletcher

-Breed: Labrador Retriever
Senior SRO Green and K-9 Fletcher became partners in June of 2024. Their partnership is one of the first K9 Teams in the midlands to be utilized for firearms detection in the schools we serve. While Fletcher is specifically trained in traditional and person-borne firearms detection, they are utilized as more of a deterrent and preventative measure then a direct response to a specific concern. Fletcher is excited to come to work each day and loves to work and play.
